For Roseville Hub!

Right now I am only taking on the challenge of the Roseville Hub. Depending upon its success, I will hopefully expand in the future and include more West Coast hubs or other territories.

 The reason for this website: I am a new Union Pacific Conductor and I’ve had so many questions I’ve sent my Union Reps. phone bill through the roof. I constantly wished for a place on the web where I could go for answers posted by others that understand. There is a lot of info out there but most of it is written in difficult legal language that leaves many with more questions than answers. I wanted a place where everyone can ask questions and get easy-to-understand answers.

Another problem is Union Pacific: for example – just does not understand that their way of training people for  2 months just isn’t enough to make good safe railways. Once you mark up, you’re on your own! You have to learn as you go. Reading a rulebook (that you know nothing about) and trying to apply and learn it in the field are two totally different things. I for one knew NOTHING about trains and railways ‘til I took my brakeman class. And after 2 months I am expected to know everything there is to know about railroading. Well hard fact is we don’t! Most of us have to ask many questions and we often feel many others don’t want to help.   It is very scary and frustrating to say the least. It is also very frustrating when you cannot get all the info you need, when you need it.  Especially with CLAIMS!

 Information is power so

basically I wanted to build a place for everyone in the Roseville Hub to go for help, information, and knowledge!!

So I have!

The object of this site is the forums and Downloads!

The “FORUMS” area is a community where we all can share information and improve our way of life on the rail! This is a place for everyone to ask questions, find useful information, express how they feel (without fear of retribution), and help others!  I’m also sure many would like a forum where they can post complaints as well. This will be a great source for Union Reps. or others who would like to understand what the workers really want. This is a place to debate certain agreements; a place to post the latest news; a place to get help; etc…

The “DOWNLOADS” area is a source of very useful information that will hopefully grow to become the “Go-To” place for documents.  Check out the collection and if you have anything to add please send it to me.

OK, those are the reasons I built this site.  Now, what this site will need is:

1.  (Support from people like YOU: Frequent these forums; Ask questions; Answer questions. This will only work if YOU are willing to help others.

2. I also need your help spreading the word:  “This website is the place to go to get help, to help others, and to express your opinions.”

3. Patience as the web site grows. The site is brand new, it will take time to get the needed info posted.  If you would like to help out please visit the contacts page for more info.

Again, the only way this will work is if I can get support from people willing to help others. All it takes is going to the FORUMS and answering questions. The time it takes is minimal (usually less time than checking your email) and in my vision, this site will make an easier-to-understand, safer, and more profitable railway for everyone.

It may even Save Lives !
